Homecoming Floats Decorations that Rock!

No homecoming parade is complete without a variety of beautiful, fun or even zany floats! The recipe for creating amazing homecoming floats is simple: Just add Anderson’s! We can help you bring your homecoming float ideas to the parade with our affordable float decorations. Or, if you’re out of ideas and running out of time, we have tons of great float kits that are ready to go!

Create Your Own Homecoming Float

Anderson’s has all the decorations you need to create a homecoming float consistent with your school’s traditions. Here are a few float decorating materials essential to creating an exciting homecoming float for this year’s parade!

Fringe – Drape fringe over the sides of your float bed base. It helps hide an unsightly undercarriage and flutters gently in the wind to create a fun and festive look for your float. Available in metallic, vinyl or tissue.

Floral Sheeting – Create rich texture and color! Cover your entire float bed or wrap around poles or other float structures. Available in vinyl or metallic.

Festooning – These garlands are a great accent to your homecoming float. Versatile and lightweight, festooning is perfect for edging and decorating. Available in metallic, vinyl or tissue.

Pomps – For large, colorful, detailed structures, pomps provide the perfect texture and come in all colors of the rainbow and then some! Simply create a chicken wire structure, and fill each hole with pomps in the color and pattern of your dreams! Available in metallic, tissue or poly.

Styrofoam Letters – Spell out anything you want with jumbo Styrofoam letters and numbers. Use tempera paints to add some color. Available 8″ or 11″ high.

Banners – Don’t forget to announce who created your homecoming float and who sponsored it! Use a 24″ x 52″ custom banner with your words and design.

  1. I am with a memory care community serving people with Alzheimer’s and other medical dementias. Our community is in the middle of a busy commercial residential district with a very active business association that does an annual street parade. We partner with a company called Urban Excursions that does bus excursions for our residents to all kinds of places where they can get off the bus and do fun interactive things — explore art exhibits, wildlife sanctuaries, go to concerts, go on picnics, ride across Portland’s newest bridge and then stop for donuts at our famous Voodoo Donuts. Some of our residents and their families are going to ride the Urban Excursions bus in the annual street parade (date of the parade is July 25). We can decorate the bus anyway we like — it’s a small 14 passenger bus. I need ideas — we do want to have our community’s name displayed prominently on the bus and a theme. I thought of decorating the bus like a train with the message — get on board finding a cure for Alzheimer’s, but no one is really thrilled with that idea.

Any help/suggestions/list of recommended materials and how to apply them would be greatly appreciated!!

    1. Melissa,
Thank you for reading our blog. We love the idea of decorating excursion buses for various occasions. We have lots of themes at andersons.com to inspire your decorating. Some kits, of course, will be too big for the bus. If you have space, some of the smaller kits could be used as decorations or photo ops. Cutouts are great ideas to decorate walls or windows. You can also use crepe streamer or festooning. You could create balloon bouquets. We offer lots of decorating fabrics. You can use any fabric to cover bus seats, or as window draperies or bus ceiling canopies. You may need some tools to secure the fabric, and those may depend upon what the bus company would allow. If there is a socket (or two) on the bus, you could use mini lights as decorations. We also offer custom banners that can be used to display your name and theme.
Again, thank you for interest in our blog, and we wish you well with your decorating. We’d love to see some photos of the results.
